The practice
Terms first, work second
The common pattern is to recruit annotators, run a first batch, and produce the contract when the working relationship already exists and walking away has a cost. We publish the terms before anyone applies, including the parts that are not in the annotator’s favour.
IP assignment is required. That is worth stating plainly rather than burying, because it is the term most likely to matter to someone later.
